In this day and age when, creativity, innovation, and critical thinking skills are increasingly being recognized as those which are essential to everyday living and success, Horizon International Bilingual School has taken on the challenge and launched the Design Your Dream Project Olympiad (DyDPO) in Vietnam on April 21, 2018 at the Hanoi Campus.

The mission of DyDPO is to help Vietnamese and international students develop creativity and critical thinking, and its vision is to become the most forward-thinking competition based in Vietnam.

This year, students from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh campuses showcased their ideas in a friendly competition. 17 projects from 25 students showed the promising beginnings of what was seen to soon become an international competition, and along with parents and friends, teachers and students from Tay Ho High School, Đông Thái Secondary School and Tứ Liên Secondary School witnessed the excitement. Mr. Lê Trần Tuấn from Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training, Ms. Bùi Thị Minh Nga of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, and Chief Officer Friday Achilefu Nwaigwe of the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) also graced the event.

The 6 judges, Mr. Ferhat Ozturk, Mr. Christie Keenan, Mr. Ngô Quốc Định, Mrs. Bùi Thu Hương, Mrs. Vũ Mai Hương, and Ms. Huỳnh Thị Kim Cương, certainly took their time listening to the students and asking them questions about their projects. The 2-hour judging wasn’t easy for either party, but the challenge was faced head-on. Finally, the following students received certificates, trophies, and cash awards:
