Physics encompasses a wide array of activities in learning its concepts that can be performed both inside and outside the classrooms. From a very simple material available in the household and to the most sophisticated equipment in the laboratory, the understanding of natural laws enabled us to unveil the secrets of the natural environment and has aid mankind to develop technology in order to promote quality life on its unique way.
In line with this undeniable facts, physics activities like classroom-based demo, outdoor games, simulation, role-playing, integration with the other subjects, poster-making, field trips, and symposium are highly recommended. These are key ingredients in order to make physics appealing and engaging to students. A choice of one or two out of these options can be given twice a month, on top of the lectures given by the teacher every meeting.
Inviting other schools to participate in a competıtion to be sponsored by HIBS would be a great experience and opportunity for everyone. As for our students, they will meet other people, exchange ideas with them, and create new circle of friends. And for the school, it could earn recognition from other schools for promoting science education through series of competitions.
The improvement of science laboratory could be one giant step towards meeting the standards, but let us also remember that there were great men in history who discovered nature’s laws despite of the fact that technology during their time was limited and not even available.
Educating the young minds to be creative and innovative for the 21st century is as important as nurturing a plant seed to grow and become a tree.
