HIBS HANOI ANNUAL MATHS WEEK

The school-wide activity “Mathematics Week” was held between March 20 and 24 at Horizon International Bilingual School.
The school-wide activity “Mathematics Week” was held between March 20 and 24 at Horizon International Bilingual School.
The aims of organizing a “Mathematics Week” were to develop students’ knowledge, culture and enjoyment of mathematics. Moreover, it was an opportunity for students to discover new things about mathematics as an area of knowing, to consider numeracy from a different perspective and to develop students’ thinking skills. Through the activities, students’ attitude has changed dramatically in a positive way.
To develop mathematical culture and knowledge, mathematics department teachers have encouraged students to prepare posters and wallpapers related with Algebra-Geometry-Calculus and their applications, before the Mathematics week. The students decorated corridors with these works.
During the week, mathematics department organized three mathematics competitions among all primary, secondary and high school students. All students competed individually and top students earned certificates and gained prizes. Teachers played with students some interactive and logic games such as web based online Kahoot game, different types of puzzles such as Hanoi tower, tangrams and Brain Teasers. Student presentations took place as a result of their reflection on mathematics week.
Every day during the Mathematics Week, mathematics problems were posted around the school and based on students’ response, they received a lot of prizes.
HIBS family experienced fun in mathematics through various activities.
