In November 2021, our school representatives including Mr. Park - Head of School, Mr. Faridin - School Principal, Ms. Nguyen Thu Hoai - Vice Principal, Mr. Daniiar - Head of Character education, and Phan Tuan Minh - Student Council President, visited and presented 42 sets of student desks and chairs, 3 locker cabinets, 2 sets of tables and chairs for the school office, 2 basketball poles and badminton poles, sports equipment, clothes and many learning tools for Le Hong Phong Secondary School in Thach Khe commune. We also gave away 42 tables, 159 kitchen chairs, kitchen utensils, 38 sets of tables and chairs for preschool classes, student lockers, office furniture and a lot of toys and learning tools for Thach Tri Kindergarten, Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh. In addition, 92 armchairs were awarded to the Community Cultural House at Quarter 4, Ha Huy Tap ward, one of the most difficult wards of Ha Tinh city.
It was the third time we set out to visit people in Thach Khe and Thach Tri communes, Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province. This trip left us with a lot of emotions thanks to the warm welcome of the Representative of Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee Office, the Head of Ha Tinh Mass Mobilisation Department, representatives of the local government and Thach Ha Education and Training Department.
At 3 gift-giving locations, Mr. Noah Park, Head of school, shared the viewpoint of himself and Mr. Esref Saglam, Chairman of school: “Over the past 15 years, Horizon International Bilingual School has been conducting volunteer trips in many localities in Vietnam to educate students about love, kindness, giving and the value of helping the community through these humane activities. We hope that the facilities that we send to you today will partly support your teaching and learning activities as well as developing cultural activities in the local community. Besides this programme, in the future, we will continue to collaborate with you in professional development for teachers and student exchange between Horizon school and Ha Tinh’s schools.”
Mr Vo Ta Loi, Deputy Head of Thach Ha district's Education and Training Department said that;
"We are extremely happy and touched when receiving many meaningful and practical gifts from teachers and students at Horizon International Bilingual School when we are facing a great deal of difficulties and need to equip our classes urgently as we are preparing to welcome students back to school after the COVID-19 pandemic next week. On behalf of Thach Ha education sector, I would like to express my infinite gratitude to the Chairman and School board of Horizon International Bilingual School. We promise to maintain and use the facilities for the right purposes, and will educate our students about the meaning and great humanity of these facilities.”
Ms Nguyen Bich Ngoc, the representative of Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee's Office emotionally shared on her personal page: "What a meaningful day! To know how to love, to be kind, to share and give with no intention for carefree and benevolent smiles. To see you again after a full year is like a happy reunion with close relatives. I found that my life has been so lucky to have such precious predestined relationships. I’m so appreciative but it is hard to say thanks in proper words. I just know that each trip is the smiles of the comers and the overwhelming gratitude of the people who stay. What a wonderful feeling!”
"Thach Tri Kindergarten - Ha Tinh would like to express our thanks to the Horizon International Bilingual School’s teachers for your attention and your meaningful and practical gifts. We wish that you are healthy and happy. We hope HORIZON school will always flourish.” wrote Ms Nguyen Thi Hanh, principal of Thach Tri Kindergarten in Thach Tri commune.
On behalf of the school's students on this trip, Phan Tuan Minh, President of the school's Student Council, spoke: "After this trip, I understand more about the value of life. I feel that I'm still luckier than many people. I have a loving family and I can go to school every day. My future is at least not as bleak as many children there. Through this meaningful activity, I know to cherish my life and my family bond. I will live responsibly, love and share more."
Despite our humble donation, the smiles of teachers, students and Ha Tinh people when they received the facilities, and positive feedback from local authorities and schools make Horizon’s teachers and students more motivated to continue these meaningful volunteering activities in future.
