This event was a kind of 6-week marathon for our students and teachers. The Math and ICT department started to conduct Saturday classes for selected students participating in the IMC in the beginning of October. This training has been organized and facilitated by selected Math teachers to ensure enough preparations for the participants. This is also a way to promote camaraderie among the students as they learn Mathematics together. The conduct of this free of charge Saturday training was based on the willingness of the parents and students. With endless enthusiasm, selected mathematics teachers: Mrs. Amandursun, Mr. Yusuke, Mrs. Ngoc, Mrs. Tam, Alfante Anna Marie, Alijon Turanov, Dilafruz Turanova, Guvanch Agajanov, Phi Nguyen Thi Hoai, Quynh Cao Vo Thu, Talgat Suyundukov and Mr. Kamil, have been sharing their expertise with students who are willing to learn. The Mathematics and ICT department was able to encourage 125 candidates to participate in the said competition. Almost all students were attending the rigorous Saturday training held online.
This year's Online IMC had five categories: Grades 1-3 (Category Kids), 4-5(Category 1), 6-7(Category 2), 8-9(Category 3), and 10-11(Category 4). Due to travel restrictions, the organizers have pushed the competition through an online format, just like the previous year.
This year's IMC was a big challenge for the participants and teachers. More than 5000 students from 96 different countries participated in a competition that was one of the world's biggest math contests. Fortunately, our students achieved remarkable results: 7 Gold, 16 Silver, 31 Bronze and 40 Honorable Mention awards.
The Math and ICT Department of Horizon International Bilingual School extends its warmest congratulations to the International Online Math Challenge awardees. Your success is a testament to your dedication, hard work and perseverance in studying Mathematics. It shows that you are not only good in our school but internationally competitive as well. We know that this is only one of many more achievements that you, our students, will achieve in the future.
