The 1st HIBS Horizon Learning Expo 2018 aptly themed Creativity Unleashed was successfully held at Horizon International Bilingual School Hanoi Campus on 28-30 November 2018.
Primary, secondary, and high school teachers and students, as well as school leaders from HIBS, gathered and hosted a 3-day session of keynote presentations, debates and lesson demonstrations. This drew many visitors with increasing participation of parents, students and school board members.
Over 35 booths featured students’ creative works that were products of collaboration across different subject areas, demonstrating how knowledge and skills learned across the curriculum are applied in life. These projects included educational technology, Robotics, scientific experiments, human rights projects and math solutions. In particular, there were outputs like musical compositions (Chemistry and Music), diorama (Civics, Literature, and History), a debate (Biology and English), and editorial cartoons (Mathematics and Economics) just to name a few.
Visitors had very meaningful conversations with project presenters --students who eagerly demonstrated and explained what they head learned. It could be seen with bare eyes that everyone was impressed. More importantly, students were inspired to continue learning and put forth even better presentations in the future.
The 1st HIBS Horizon Learning Expo 2018 concluded as the Principal, Mr. Vugar Babayev, led the school community in a balloonfest where each class sent their written reflections off into the sky symbolically letting their knowledge, skills, and ideas take flight to be shared with the rest of the world. The expo certainly was an outstanding event to explore new and effective ways to creatively unleash students’ potential.
