What is the NGRT?
The NGRT, or New Group Reading Test, is an accurate assessment of students’ English skill level and offers two comprehensive and data focused reports. The individual report offers valuable insights into a student’s capabilities, as well as advising the teacher on how to specifically correct unique weaknesses. The group report identifies collective student abilities and allows the teacher to group students based on differentiating skill levels.
Each student completes a unique version of the test as questions are adapted in real-time based on each answer given. As the questions administered are adapted to the ability of each student, the test provides accurate data and unique insights for each student.
Why is it relevant to Horizon students?
At Horizon School, we believe it is essential to identify and support each individual student’s unique learning needs. With students of varying English abilities and in a curriculum that focuses on English acquisition as a second language, we consider it vital to assess our students with the New Group Reading Test every year to monitor progress in literacy.
