The Prime President decided to choose the twentieth of April to be Viet Nam Book Day. The Vietnam Publishing Association, the Department of Culture and Information in Ho Chi Minh city and Tuoi Tre News will organize a talkshow about “ How to create the habit of reading books for children”. The purpose of the talkshow would be to look for the solution of forming reading habits
for both in family and in school. Le Hoang, who is the vice-president of Viet nam Publishing Association, was appointed to conduct the survey of reading books from students of schools in order to prepare the contents for the Talkshow.

On Thursday morning of May 28th 2019, Vice-president Le Hoang and reporters visited HORIZON INTERNATIONAL BILINGUAL SCHOOL where they had many positive activities in reading culture during the past time. The reporter group recorded these school reading activities:
- The school provides students with the myON application, a reading software with intergrated
technology that is suitable to readers’levels and hobbies. It could help to create a reading program and comprehensive English learning. It is possible for users to access thousands of digital books at any single time. Wherever there is an available network connection on a corresponding device, you can install myON on computers, tablets, chromebooks, iPads or kindle ...
- The project “ Grow up with books” of the Vietnamese subject group has been organsied for many years. Along with this project, there is weekly reading hour with a diversity of reading forms such as introducing books, reading books with friends, writing books, reading diaries, writing about feelings after reading and making a presentation about books. Annually, the school opens a book reading week for primary school and Book Week for students from grade 6 to grade 12. The book presentation contest is awarded to students who read the most and gave a good presentation. They are excited to participate in activities such as book cover illustrations, story creation and a book exchange as a form of circulation of valuable books to read.
-The reporter group asked to observe class 6A for a reading hour. Students bravely showed the book they read and gave many confident answers to journalists. Reading activity is not only for good students but weak students also have the chance to perform confidently. All that made for a lively class hour. The most impressive point was that the students presented Vietnamese books in English, this surprised the visitors.
- The journalist group commended to Class 6A “to be able to sit in a reading hour of glass 6A, we all love it so much, especially from this activity, students have changed their reading habits, diversified book categories from comics to textbooks and are confident to talk about books like students Vy, Nam, Nghi, Khue, George… How cute they are!”
HORIZON INTERNATIONAL BILINGUAL SCHOOL constantly innovates every aspect of their educational activities. Creating reading habits is one of the activities that contributes to helping children "grow up with books". We look forward to a confident and growing youth generation who are kind, fair and always inclined be good.
