As HIBS advances into the 21st century with new classroom technologies and techniques, HIBS students still hold on to core values like friendship, community service, and compassion. In the first term of the 2016-2017 academic year, HIBS students participated in a school-wide Writing Initiative Program called the Penpal Exchange. Primary, Secondary, and High School students each wrote a personal letter to a public school student in a neighbouring school in Tay Ho. A few students and administrators then had the honour of hand-delivering the letters to their recipients in the public schools.
The Penpal Exchange Program encourages practical every day-literacy and real-life writing skills. Of equal importance, this Penpal Exchange has helped HIBS students connect with their community and develop a sense of gratitude for the advantages they've received in life. We are all very lucky and privileged to be given the opportunity to learn at HIBS! The Penpal Exchange is an on-going program; stay tuned for exciting future developments!
