Horizon Students Represent Vietnam to achieve Great success at GENIUS Olympiad 2017 in USA

Between June 11 and 16 of 2017 Horizon International Bilingual School Olympiad students successfully participated in GENIUS Olympiads in New York, USA at the State University of New York. The students achieved amazing results proudly representing Vietnam at GENIUS Olympiads 2017.

Genius Olympiad is organized by the Terra Science and Education and hosted by the State University of New York at Oswego and was held between June 11 and 16, 2017. This year’s event attracted more than 570 projects prepared and which presented by more than 1020 students from 73 countries.

GENIUS Olympiad promotes a global understanding of environmental issues and the achievement of sustainability through basic science, arts, creative writing, engineering, design, and business development. GENIUS Olympiad provides challenges and opportunities for secondary school students, to instill in them the skills and knowledge needed to be the citizens, leaders, scientists, artists, writers, engineers, and policy makers of the future—agents who will promote and contribute to greater environmental sustainability throughout their lives. GENIUS is also an abbreviation of Global Environmental Issues and us.

Horizon International Bilingual School students from Ho Chi Minh  and Hanoi campuses, Y Linh BUI, Khanh Linh TRAN, Minh Hien TRAN, Nghiep Khai NGUYEN, Van An NGUYEN, Nguyet Dinh PHAM, Rawan Salim Muhamed Al-Busaidi, Le Dung Nhi HOANG participated in this Olympiad.

As a result of hard work, Khanh Linh TRAN received a silver medal in the music category.

Van An NGUYEN and Minh Hien TRAN earned silver medals in the short movie category.

Y Linh Bu got a bronze medal in the photography category.

Nguyet Dinh PHAM got a bronze medal in the writing category.

A special excursion around the popular landmarks of the USA was organized for the contestants that concluded their stay in the country. They had an opportunity to see the Niagara Falls, Destiny USA Mall, Madame Tussauds New York, Empire State building, the Central Park, Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. Another trip was organized to Boston where the participants visited Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University.

The success at Genius Olympiads also helps students with their holistic development through provision of an education at high quality and international standards. Horizon International Bilingual School students have proudly represented  Vietnam in worldwide Olympiad competitions and tournaments for over 8 years.

Horizon International Bilingual School’s Olympiad medal collection consists of variety of prizes and medals. Horizon International Bilingual School's High School students have attended Olympiad competitions in United States, Holland, Romania, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Thailand and Singapore.

In the 2015-2016 academic year alone, students have earned 90 medals, including 15 gold, 47 silver, 12 bronze, 9 consolation and honourable mentions, and 7 Excellent Student Awards at the district and city levels.

The subject areas included English language, mathematics, science, ICT, physics, literature, music, art, photography, short movie, design, geography, biology, chemistry, robotics, engineering and creative writing.
